Very honourable ‘cheap’ gps if looking since fundamental navigation

I have had this unit on behalf of about 8 months. It obtain given me no problems what therefore ever. The inferior thing about it on behalf of me is how basic it is. If you want bluetooth compatibility, traffic updates, movie times, etc upon your gps, then this is not theo- device on behalf of you. The price seems a little high right now on behalf of what it does ($180). For that price i would expect bluetooth compatibility. This unit does not say theo- road names, it barely says turn left or turn right inside 200 feet(not a big deal). Great gps later than trying most others

The Garmin nuvi 260W GPS is a great little gps:
The text to speech is clear, the screen is more than bright enough, the maps are large on the 4.3 inch screen. Route calculation is fast.
I regularly utilization it on battery power which is long, 4 or 5 hours, steady more if you turn down the screen brightness.
However, it seemed toward first that satellite acquisition was very slow, sometimes inasmuc as long inasmuc as 12 minutes.
I recall i found a convention around that.
If i turned the gps do the off toward home, it located satellites within 30 seconds of being turned on again toward the same location; if turned do the off before arriving home, which i was in the habit of doing, it took about 12 minutes to acquire the present location.
It seems it did not know where to appearance because of the satellites, plus took a lot of time finding them. A software fault probably, but workable.
After i discovered this, i left the unit on raise to my destination plus the problem was solved.

Something nobody seems to have mentioned; when a store or restaurant is located by this unit, it gives the address and the phone number of the intended location, plus i lav call ahead plus make sure they are open plus have what i want. This gain saved extremely mass time.
Also, touching the car icon on the map gives you a workable “where am i?” which lav be saved to favorites.

The 260w does not have all the features of a higher end garmin gps, like routing, blue tooth, traffic, etc, but garmin gain deliberately omitted these from the (slightly) lower end products.
The documentation is very limited, but reading a downloaded pdf because of the garmin 350 helps withy the 260w.
Garmin seems to believe that no one wants to read a manual.

All in all, a very suitable gps, very facile to utilization. Garmin may have proved that no manual is needed.

After about 3 months of research, i had decided i was going to buy theo- tomtom go 720. I waited on behalf of a few weeks while i shopped around on behalf of theo- best price, as a consequence during the time, theo- 720’s successor (go 730) was available upon theo- market. The TomTom GO 730 Portable GPS now includes iq routes, which from that i understand, works similarly to theo- dash – it gathers speed information from other tomtom users upon every road, so if a certain route is known to have a very low average speed toward a given time of day, theo- 730 will route you around that road to avoid theo- potential traffic. It in addition has theo- new lane guidance pictures – i’ve only seen the once so far in theo- month or so i’ve owned it, but it looked cool! At first i was torn between the model as a consequence theo- garmin nuvi series, but theo- nice thing about the tomtom that was theo- selling point on behalf of me was that you can easily add/remove/edit points of interest. This is done upon theo- unit (not via new map updates or mapshare) as a consequence can be done pretty quickly. The garmin’s brag that they have more points.
